L'església de Sant Joan de l'Hospital, gòtica cistercenca amb alguns elements romànics, és la més antiga de la ciutat de València. Situada a l'interior d'una illa delimitada entre els carrers de la Mar, de Sant Cristòfol, del Miracle i del Trinquet de Cavallers, al barri de la Xerea, dins el districte de Ciutat Vella, el seu nom es deu a l'orde de Sant Joan de l'Hospital o orde de Malta. Des del 1943, és monument historicoartístic i des del 1966 és dirigida per l'Opus Dei.
