Al final del carrer San Francisco, una de les principals vies del Centre Històric, hi ha la plaça del mateix nom, dividida en dues zones: una davant la façana de l'església, més ampla i quasi rectangular, i l'altra lateral. , més estret i trapezoïdal .
Aquesta plaça correspon a l' antic espai lliure del monestir franciscà. A la plaça de San Francisco, indret de gran tradició hotelera, destaca el Convent de San Francisco , gran casal dels franciscans de Cadis, fundat l'any 1566 i restaurat al segle XVII.
