Aquesta estàtua es va erigir l'any 1989 per commemorar el bicentenari de la mort de Carles III (1716-88).
Aquest bust de bronze, que representa el cap i el pit, amb el Toisó d'Or i un vestit d'època, és obra de Vallejo.
Està just davant de la Universitat de Cadis prop de la Punta Candelaria . Durant el seu regnat il·lustrat es van fer importants obres públiques a Cadis.
