El Secret Intelligence Service , també conegut sota la denominació de MI6 , és l'oficina d'informació exterior del Regne Unit.
L'MI6, com l'MI5, va ser creat l'octubre del 1909 en la fundació del Secret Service Bureau, del qual n'és un dels departaments. El seu primer director va ser Sir Mansfield Smith-Cumming que, abandonant freqüentment l' «Smith», utilitzava la seva inicial «C» com a criptònim. Aquest nom en codi s'ha perpetuat amb tots els directors del SIS que l'han succeït.
