Azov - Азов - és una ciutat de Rússia a la província de Rostov. Es troba a la vora del riu Don a 16 km de la costa de l'antic Palus Maeotis, modern Mar d'Azov que agafa el nom de la ciutat.
Cap al segle III aC la regió pertanyia al Regne del Bòsfor Cimmeri i es va establir una colònia grega anomenada Tanais . L'establiment fou cremat per rei Polemó I poc abans de l'inici de l'era cristiana, però els colons gregues la van reconstruir i va subsistir fins que fou destruïda pels gots al segle III. El lloc que va ocupar Tanais, on hi ha el modern llogaret de Nedvigovka, ha estat excavat des del segle XIX.
