På Museumspladsen har du straks til højre et godt udsyn til art nouveau-bygningen Old England.
Bag balustraden i midten af pladsen gemmer lysgraven sig, som skal befri de besøgende i det underjordiske Museum for Moderne Kunst fra deres følelse af klaustrofobi.
Facaderne på pladsen ser alle ens ud, men venstre og den bagvedliggende side er en moderne kopi af den 18. århundrede facade, som du går hen imod, paladset for Karl af Lothringen. Den tilstødende hofkapel fungerer nu som protestantisk bederum. Karl selv, den allerede nævnte svoger til Maria-Theresia, evig livsnyder og alkymi-enthusiast, troner på soklen til højre i svungne rokokoudstyr.
Den unge Mozart klagede i et brev til sin far over, at hoffets herrer ikke virkelig lyttede til hans koncert, men allerede i tankerne var ved at fæste sig til jagten dagen efter.
