Kennedytunnelen er en vigtig vej-, jernbane- og cykeltunnel under Schelde. Tunnelen er en del af motorvej R1 rundt om byen Antwerpen. Tunnelen blev åbnet for vejtrafik den 31. maj 1969 og for jernbanetrafik den 1. februar 1970. Tunnelen blev opkaldt efter John F. Kennedy, den treogtredive præsident for De Forenede Stater. Planer for denne tunnel går tilbage til 1950'erne. Mellem 1945 og 1960 var trafikmængden, der gik gennem Waaslandtunnelen, femdoblet, så der i slutningen af 1950'erne var en håbløs flaskehals dér. I 1958 var layoutet for E3 færdigt, og der blev oprettet en invitation til tilmeldinger for en bro eller en tunnel. I 1963 besluttede minister Georges Bohy til fordel for en tunnel, som blev realiseret på mindre end ti år.
