Den centrale skovzone, beliggende mellem Rietgracht og Schelde, er en omfattende fødselsskov. Plantningen af fødselsskov sker hver gang i Ugen for Skoven. Plantningen skete altid med forældre, der i det forgangne år fik et barn i Gent. I 2009 blev de første træer i fødselsskoven plantet. Fødselsskoven udtrykker, at de gentiske børn skal have en sund og god fremtid. En fødselsskov er derfor en ideel fødselsgave til de nye Gent-børn.
