Neerglabbeek blev første gang nævnt i 1219 som Glatbeke tam inferioris quam superioris. Med glat menes også: klar.
I 1969 blev der fundet skår fra La Tène-perioden i dette område. I middelalderen havde det lille Neerglabbeek ikke fælles grunde. De forskellige landbrugsvirksomheder havde derfor deres egne faciliteter med hede og krat, hække, til græsarealer, gødningseproduktion og brændstofforsyning.
