Neerglabbeek se menciona por primera vez en 1219 como Glatbeke tam inferioris quam superioris. Con glat también se entiende: claro.
En 1969 se encontraron en esta área fragmentos del período de La Tène. En la Edad Media, el pequeño Neerglabbeek no contaba con tierras comunes. Por lo tanto, las diferentes explotaciones agrícolas tenían sus propias provisiones de brezos y matorrales, los setos, para pastos, producción de estiércol y provisiones de leña.
