Sankt-Vith har 3000 indbyggere, er ikke særlig stor og har kun få gamle bygninger. Dette skyldes, at af de 596 huse, der stod før ødelæggelsen i 1944, er 563 blevet jævnet med jorden. Kun Bücheltårnet, et stille mindesmærke, er stadig tilbage fra den engang så stolte bymursomkring.
Så du kører gennem en næsten ny by. Sankt-Vith er nu et handels-, turist- og kulturcenter, beliggende ved et kryds af vigtige veje fra Eifel og Ardennerne. Efter Sankt-Vith forsvinder også Ardennerne, landskabet bliver mere bølgende, mindre skovklædt og vejene smallere.
