10. Gamle landsby Wichelen
Oprindeligt lå Wichelen ved Paddenhoek, nært knyttet til Skeldebugten. Med undtagelse af kirkegården og det gamle rådhus er der nu ikke meget at se. Hvor er denne gamle landsby blevet af? Den gamle kirke ved kirkegården blev revet ned i det 19. århundrede, mens en ny kirke blev bygget ved Margote. Det tog 5 år at træffe denne beslutning og delte Wichelaars i to fjendtlige lejre. Sidenhen blev en del af den gamle landsby ved bredden opslugt af Skelde.
På den gamle kirkegård finder du stadig en kilde med den hellige Marculfus, en glemt helgen, der blev æret imod eksem, hududslæt og forskellige kirtelsygdomme.
