Den nuværende basilika fik sin titel i 1950 og blev bygget i gotisk stil mellem det 13. og 15. århundrede. I det 19. århundrede blev den grundigt restaureret. Da den indeholder billedet af Vor Frue af Walcourt (omkring år 1000), er det et vigtigt sted for Maria-tilbedelse. Inden i kirken finder vi en smuk korbue i sen-gotisk stil (1531). Den skulle være en gave fra Karl den Femte. I koret pryder også fyrre smukke egetræskorstole (første kvart af det 16. århundrede).
