Historien om egen avl begynder ved 40-års bryllupsdagen for Jos og Ria. Parret kommer fra Duffel (Antwerpen). Lige efter sit ægteskab arvede Ria en gård i 'Wietschoate', og parret flyttede til Vestflams. Denne gård er i serien hjemmet for Jos og Ria. Du ser blandt andet scenen, hvor Frank kommer hjem med Julita, hvorefter Ria stormer ud for at byde hende velkommen, og scenen hvor Ria spiller kort med Chantal Vantomme, politibetjent og husveninde, som gerne kommer forbi til en kop kaffe med småkager.
