Edelhof var oprindeligt en bygning, der tilhørte stiftet og i det 19. århundrede blev ombygget til en herremand/godshus for den lokale prominente familie De Matthys. Det er derfor et typisk eksempel på 'nyere residencer med slottsalure'. I dag fungerer det som udgangspunkt/port til Nationalpark Hoge Kempen.
