Bottens ligger 730 m over havets overflade, 3 km sydøst for Echallens og 12 km nord for kantonens hovedstad Lausanne. Landsbyen strækker sig over et højdedrag øst for Talent, i den østlige Gros de Vaud, på nordvestkanten af Jorat-bakkerne, i Waadtlandets midtbund.
Arealet af den 6,8 km² store kommune omfatter en del af højdedraget i det centrale Waadtlands midtbund. Den vestlige grænse danner dalen til Talent, hvori vandløbene Posat og Combron flyder fra Bottens. I den skovklædte dal af sidstnævnte løber den sydvestlige grænse. Mod øst strækker kommunebunden sig over højdedraget i Bottens, skovbakken Planche Riande og kilden til Coruz helt op til højden af La Carnacière, hvor den højeste punkt i Bottens, med 848 m over havets overflade, nås. I 1997 udgjorde 7 % af kommunens område bebyggelse, 19 % skov og buske og 74 % landbrug.
