Det ligger mellem Prorer Wiek-bugten og Schmachter See i den sydøstlige del af øen. Mod nord strækker Schmale Heide sig ud fra Binz, en landtunge, der forbinder Muttland-regionen i Rügen med Jasmund-halvøen. Landet mod syd og øst for Binz er bakket og når en højde på over 100 meter over havets overflade.
Binz er berømt for sin charmerende og velholdte historiske kur-arkitektur og det naturskønne område, tæt på Jasmund Nationalpark og dens kridtkyst.
