Weimar er en amtsfri by i Thüringen i Tyskland, der er kendt for sin kulturarv. Den mellemstore by ligger på en bue af Ilm sydøst for Ettersberget, den højeste bakke i Thüringer Becken med 478 meter. Byen er den fjerde største i Thüringen efter Erfurt, Jena og Gera og ligger omtrent halvvejs mellem Erfurt i vest og Jena i øst.
Weimar er et mellemcenter, der udfører delfunktioner for et overcenter og har siden 2004 blevet betegnet som universitetsby. Udover Bauhaus Universitetet huser byen Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt og Herzogin Anna Amalia Bibliothek, samt myndigheder som Thüringer Oberverwaltungsgericht, Thüringer Landesverwaltungsamt, Thüringer Verfassungsgerichtshof og Thüringisches Landesamt für Denkmalpflege und Archäologie.
