Kommunen Dünsen ligger midt i Naturparken Wildeshauser Geest, cirka 25 kilometer syd for Bremen. En stor del af kommunen er omgivet af skovområde.
Kommunen Dünsen grænser mod nord til kommunen Groß Ippener, mod øst til kommunen Kirchseelte, mod syd til den bassumske del af Klein Hollwedel, mod sydvest til kommunen Beckeln og mod vest til delområdet Harpstedt.
