Il comune di Dünsen si trova nel mezzo del parco naturale Wildeshauser Geest, a circa 25 chilometri a sud di Brema. Una grande parte del comune è circondata da aree forestali.
Il comune di Dünsen confina a nord con il comune di Groß Ippener, a est con il comune di Kirchseelte, a sud con la frazione Klein Hollwedel di Bassum, a sud-ovest con il comune di Beckeln e a ovest con il borgo di Harpstedt.
