Ense er en kommune i den nordlige del af Sauerland. Den kommune med mere end 12.000 indbyggere ligger vest for Soest kommune, som igen tilhører regeringsdistriktet Arnsberg i delstaten Nordrhein-Westfalen.
Kommunen blev dannet i 1969 som led i den kommunale omstrukturering i Nordrhein-Westfalen ved loven om geninddeling af Soest kommune og dele af Beckum kommune.
