Kommunen ligger i Nationalpark Eifel i Rureifel og i Naturpark Nordeifel. Det højeste punkt i kommunen er ved Forsthaus Jägerhaus på Langschoß på 566 m over havets overflade, det laveste mellem Gey og Birgel på 170 m højden.
I middelalderen stod der ved bydelen Bergstein på Burgberg den kejserlige borg Burg Berenstein. Den kan kun genkendes som et borgsted. Der står udsigtstårnet Krawutschketurm.
