Wuppertal [ˈvuːpɐtal] er en by i Tyskland, der tilhører delstaten Nordrhine-Westfalen. Det dækker et område på 168,39 km² og har 342.885 indbyggere, et tab på mere end 20.000 indbyggere siden 2004. Det er en relativt nyoprettet by, der blev til gennem sammensmeltningen i 1929 af byerne Elberfeld, Barmen, Ronsdorf, Cronenberg og Vohwinkel, dengang kendt som Barmen-Elberfeld. Det nuværende navn, valgt ved en folkeafstemning i 1930, betyder "dal af Wupper", en biflod til Rhinen, der vander byen.
