Brakel er en by i Kreis Höxter i det østlige Nordrhein-Westfalen. Den strækker sig over cirka 174 km² og har omkring 15.000 indbyggere. For det nuværende bynavn findes de historiske betegnelser Brakele, Bracle og Brabecke.
Brakel ligger i midten af Kreis Höxter mellem Eggegebirge og Weser i Oberwälder Land, 30 km øst for Paderborn og 15 km sydvest for Höxter. Byen ligger i Naturpark Teutoburger Wald / Eggegebirge.
