Karthane er en venstre biflod til Stepenitz i Landkreis Prignitz. Den har en løbslængde på 48 kilometer, og den har tilløb som Cederbach og en række mindre bække og engegrave. Karthanes opland dækker 436,8 km².
Kilden til Karthane ligger i området nord for Klein Woltersdorf i kommunen Groß Pankow, nær bosættelsen Seefeld mellem den 128 meter høje Butterberg og den 120 meter høje Wahrberg.
