Fehmarnsund er den havarm, der ligger mellem Kieler Bugt og Mecklenburg Bugt, der adskiller øen Fehmarn fra fastlandet. Indtil 1963 blev den krydset af en færge med biltransport mellem Großenbrode færge og stedet Fehmarnsund, indtil Fehmarnsundbroen blev bygget i forbindelse med færdiggørelsen af Vogelfluglinjen. Stederne ved Fehmarnsund er Burg på Fehmarn, Großenbrode, Heiligenhafen og den nævnte tidligere færgeleje Fehmarnsund.
Der var allerede i begyndelsen af det 13. århundrede en færgeforbindelse over Fehmarnsund, der forbende øen Fehmarn med fastlandet.
