Wetterscheidt ligger sydvest for Mertendorf ved udmundingen af Neidschützer Bäch i Wethau.
Wetterscheidt tilhørte i det 17. århundrede til streubesitz af Schenken von Tautenburg i det kursaksiske amt Weißenfels. Efter Christian Schenk von Tautenburgs død tilhørte stedet fra 1640/52 som eksklave til det kursaksiske amt Tautenburg. Med Wienerkongressen kom Wetterscheidt i 1815 til Preussens Landkreis Naumburg i provinsen Sachsen.
