Wetterscheidt se encuentra al suroeste de Mertendorf en la desembocadura del arroyo Neidschützer en el Wethau.
Wetterscheidt perteneció en el siglo XVII a la propiedad dispersa de los señores de Tautenburg en la oficina electoral de Weißenfels. Tras la muerte de Christian Schenk de Tautenburg, el lugar pasó a ser una exclave de la oficina electoral de Tautenburg a partir de 1640/52. Con el Congreso de Viena, Wetterscheidt se unió en 1815 al distrito prusiano de Naumburg en la provincia de Sajonia.
