Eichstätt kommune er den nordligste kommune i regeringsdistriktet Oberbayern og tilhører planlægningsregionen Ingolstadt.
Området i Eichstätt kommune omfatter i det væsentlige Eichstätter Alb i den sydlige Fränkische Alb med kerneområdet af Altmühltals. Altmühl når i vest ved Solnhofen ind i kommuneområdet, strømmer derefter østligt, senere nordøstligt, og forlader det øst for Beilngries. I den yderste syd strejfer Donau, i nordøst kort Main-Donau-kanalen kommuneområdet. Dermed er Eichstätt kommune den eneste i Oberbayern, der hovedsageligt eller næsten udelukkende ligger nord for Donau. I kommunen ligger lige ved markedet Kipfenberg den geografiske midtpunkt for fristaten Bayern.
