Cancale er en by med fiskere og muslinge- og østersopdræt. Store østersbanker ligger mellem Jetée de la Fenêtre og Pointe du Hoc. For turismen er især marinaen ved Kanalen vigtig. Stedet består af Bourg, som ligger på en højderyg over den stejlt stigende kyst, og Houle, havneområdet, som ligger ved foden af klipperne. Bourg er større end Houle.
