Universitetet i Lothringen er specialiseret i agromining. Nogle planter optager metaller fra jorden med deres rødder og transporterer dem op til overfladen via stængler og blade. Det kaldes såkaldte hyperakkumulatorer. Når du derefter høster disse planter, har du metallet fra jorden. De bliver nogle gange brugt til at rense forurenede jorde. Cadmium, zink, kobolt, mangan og nikkel kan du samle på denne måde.'
