Todt Batteriet er opkaldt efter Fritz Todt. Han var general, men især en ingeniør-arkitekt fra det 3. Rige, og en god ven af Adolf Hitler. Denne sidste betroede ham i 1933 realiseringen af motorvejene i Tyskland med det formål at reducere arbejdsløsheden.
I 1935 grundlagde han en paramilitær organisation: OT (Organisation Todt). Han fik O.T. til at realisere Siegfriedlinien med henblik på operation Seelöwe (invasionen af England). Dette projekt blev annulleret i 1940 af Hitler, og således blev Siegfriedlinien omformet til en del af forsvarslinjen Atlantikwall.
Den 8. februar 1942 styrtede Junkers JU 52, der transporterede doktor Fritz Todt, mystisk ned under opstigningen. Der var ingen overlevende. Siegfried Batteriet blev den 10. februar 1942 omdøbt til Todt Batteriet til ære for sin bygherre.
