Det store polske kort i Eddleston blev bygget i 1970'erne som en anerkendelse af den skotske gæstfrihed over for polske soldater under Anden Verdenskrig. En tredimensionel model af kortet - udviklet af Historic Environment Scotland - blev lanceret samtidig. Ideen til det oprindelige projekt stammer sandsynligvis fra Jan Tomasik, ejer af hotellet fra 1969 til 1977. Han bosatte sig i Skotland efter krigen og udviklede sit koncept for kortet med bidrag fra sin tidligere kommandant, general Stanislaw Maczek. Kortet ligger i en oval pool, der er ca. 160ft (50m) bred og 5ft (1,5m) dyb, med vand der genskaber floder, søer og hav.
