Rathgar er en forstad til Dublin i Irland. Det var oprindeligt en landsby, som fra 1862 var en del af byområdet Rathmines og Rathgar; det blev absorberet af den voksende by og blev en forstad i 1930. Det ligger cirka tre kilometer syd for byens centrum.
Rathgar ligger i det sydlige Dublin. Det ligger ved siden af Dartry, Harold's Cross, Rathmines og Terenure. Andre nærliggende forstæder er Crumlin, Kimmage, Milltown, Ranelagh og Rathfarnham. Den Store Kanal flyder mod nord. Størstedelen af området ligger inden for jurisdiktionen af Dublin City Council og strækker sig over postgrænsen for Dublin 6.
