Stationet ligger i Harselaar, ved erhvervsområdet Harselaar og direkte på nordkanten af Barneveld. Stoppestedet blev åbnet i 1938 ved den i 1937 taget i brug forbindelse mellem jernlinjerne Amersfoort – Apeldoorn og Nijkerk – Ede under navnet Barneveld-Voorthuizen. Det blev åbnet som erstatning for to andre stoppesteder: stoppestedet Barneveld Kruispunt ved den nedlagte del af Kippenlinjen og den med samme navn station Barneveld-Voorthuizen ved Oosterspoorweg. Den 31. maj 1981 blev navnet ændret til Barneveld Nord.
