Nijetrijne ligger sydvest for Wolvega, ved N351, mellem Wolvega og Kuinre. Landsbyen ligger midt i naturområdet Rottige Meente, hvor der flere gange er blevet udsat bævere. I Nijetrijne står der en meget lille kirke. Kirken blev grundlagt i 1900, og der afholdes stadig ugentlige gudstjenester. Én gang hvert andet år holder menigheden en julevandring gennem det smukke naturområde Rottige Meente.
