Nijetrijne se encuentra al suroeste de Wolvega, en la N351, entre Wolvega y Kuinre. El pueblo está situado en medio del área natural de Rottige Meente, donde se han liberado nutrias en varias ocasiones. En Nijetrijne hay una iglesia muy pequeña. La iglesia fue fundada en 1900 y actualmente se celebran servicios religiosos semanalmente. Una vez cada 2 años, la comunidad organiza una caminata navideña a través de la hermosa área natural de Rottige Meente.
