landsbyen ligger ved foden af Montferland og Bergherbos. Zeddam ligger ad vejen fra Doetinchem til 's-Heerenberg. Denne vej gik gennem landsbyen indtil begyndelsen af det 21. århundrede, men på grund af trafikgener ledes trafikken rundt om Zeddam siden begyndelsen af det 21. århundrede. I 1821 blev kommunen Zeddam, sammen med kommunerne Netterden og 's-Heerenberg, en del af den nye kommune Bergh. I 2005 blev kommunen Bergh en del af den nye kommune Montferland. I 1969 blev Vinkwijk indlemmet i Zeddam.
