I 1944 tog den tyske hær Betuwe-stillingen i brug efter operation Market Garden. Kort efter Anden Verdenskrig blev en stor del af linjen gravet væk under jordfordelingerne, men Hoornværket ved Spees er nu det bedst bevarede element fra den omlagte Grebbelinie.
