Rådhuset blev bygget mellem 1958 og 1963 efter et design af arkitekterne J.F. Berghoef og J.F. Hondius. Billedkunstnerne J. van Eyl, J. Goeting og F. Jacobs har bidraget til bygningen. Rådhuset ligger på Burgemeester Jansenplein 1, beliggende i centrum af Hengelo. Bygningen indeholder skandinaviske og italienske stilmærker blandet med saksisk bygningspraksis.
