Tehus de Horsten

Gem hidden in the greenery at the “Koninklijke Landgoederen de Horsten” between Wassenaar and Voorschoten is “Teepavillion de Horsten”.

This former so-called “shooting house,” built by Prince Frederik, brother of King Willem II, in 1861 and has been used as a tea house since 1987. The shooting house is built in English Tudor-Gothic style by the design of the German architect H.H.A. Wentzel, house architect of Prince Frederik.

In this spot in the metropolitan area, you will feel transported back a century and can enjoy indoors in winter in an atmosphere of hunting trophies with a hunting dish and a cup of game tea. In summer, you can enjoy listening to the birds on the terrace with a delicious salad and a glass of rosé, or later in the afternoon, indulge in a proper English High Tea with fragrant teas and champagne. Of course, you are also welcome for a cup of coffee with homemade cake.

The teahouse is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
The opening hours are from 10 am to 4:45 pm.
Lunch is served from 12 pm to 2:30 pm
and you can enjoy the High Tea from 2:45 pm to 4:45 pm.

Reservations can only be made from Wednesday to Saturday.

Unfortunately, you cannot reserve places on Sundays due to large crowds, but you are of course very welcome.
