Lofoten er en øgruppe og et traditionelt distrikt i Nordland fylke, Norge. Lofoten er kendt for sin karakteristiske natur med dramatiske bjerge og tinder, åbent hav og beskyttede bugter, strande og urørte landområder. Dens største by, Leknes, ligger cirka 169 km inde i polarcirklen og cirka 2.420 km fra Nordpolen, hvilket gør Lofoten til en af verdens nordligst befolkede regioner. Selvom den ligger inden for polarcirklen, oplever øgruppen en af verdens største forhøjede temperaturanomalier i forhold til sin høje breddegrad.
Lofoten var det oprindelige navn på øen Vestvågøya. Det første element er ló, og det sidste element stammer fra det oldnordiske fótr, da formen på øen må have været sammenlignet med en los' pote.
