Wörgl ist eine Stadt mit 14.308 Einwohnern im Inntal im Bezirk Kufstein in Tirol, etwa 55 Kilometer östlich der Landeshauptstadt Innsbruck gelegen. Die Gemeinde liegt im Gerichtsbezirk Kufstein. Der Großraum Wörgl beheimatet etwa 31.000 Einwohner.Wörgl wurde mit dem Namen „Uuergile“ 1104/1116 erstmals urkundlich erwähnt, es befand sich jedoch schon in der Römerzeit eine Siedlung in diesem Gebiet. 1416 wurde das Gemeindegebiet in zwei Landgerichte aufgeteilt, 1815 wurden die Gemeinden Wörgl-Kufstein und Wörgl-Rattenberg politisch eigenständig.
