Weiz ist eine Stadt mit 11.791 Einwohnern in der Oststeiermark und die Hauptstadt des gleichnamigen Bezirkes in Österreich. Sie ist die einwohnermäßig größte Stadt der Region Oststeiermark bzw. die achtgrößte Stadt der Steiermark und gilt auf Grund mehrerer Industrieunternehmen als Industriestadt. Die Stadtregion Weiz mit den wirtschaftlich, sozial, geographisch und verkehrstechnisch verbundenen Gemeinden Mitterdorf/R., Mortantsch, Naas und Thannhausen umfasst 19.984 Ew.
