Das Fort von Breendonk liegt bei Willebroek. Es wurde während des Zweiten Weltkriegs von den Nazis als Konzentrationslager genutzt. Es diente als Arbeitslager und als Durchgangslager. Es ist das einzige derartige Lager in Westeuropa, das vollständig intakt geblieben ist. Dieses Lager ist für Belgien zu einem wichtigen Denkmal des Krieges geworden und wurde als "Nationales Denkmal des Forts von Breendonk" eingerichtet.
Das Fort ist für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich, die einen Einblick in die Welt der Gefangenen nehmen kann. Auf dem Innenhof sieht man die Gräber und, wenn man den Weg entlang des Forts folgt, das Galgen mit den Gedenktafeln für diejenigen, die dort hingerichtet wurden.
