Die Brüsseler Kapellekirche ist der populäre Name der gotischen Unsere Liebe Frau zur Kapelle Kirche, die am Ende der Hoogstraat, in der Nähe des volkstümlichen Marollenviertels liegt. (wikipedia, n.d.).
Der Herzog Gottfried I. von Brabant ließ hier im 12. Jahrhundert eine kleine Kapelle bauen. Diese Kapelle wuchs im Zeitraum vom 13. bis zum 15. Jahrhundert zu einer vollwertigen Kirche heran.
Dieses Kirchengebäude ist ein großartiges Beispiel für die späte brabantische Gotik.
Darüber hinaus ist die Kapelle auch mit dem Maler Pieter Bruegel der Ältere (1525-1569) verbunden: Hier fand seine Hochzeit statt und er liegt hier begraben. Ein Grabmal erinnert an diese Ereignisse. Vor der Kirche befindet sich auch eine Statue von Bruegel.
Die Kapelle gehört zum Projekt "Flämische Meister", das von Tourismus Flandern organisiert wird.
