1995 wurde hier in Limburg das erste Knotenpunktnetzwerk der Welt eingeführt. Die Geschichte wurde inzwischen oft erzählt. Es war der Bergbauingenieur Hugo Bollen, der das Navigationssystem aus den Limburgischen Bergwerken umgestaltet hat zu einem Konzept für ein Radnetzwerk. Inzwischen wurde das System auch über die Landesgrenzen exportiert. Nach den Niederlanden, den Ostkantonen, der deutschen Region Heinsberg und der wallonischen Region Famenne sind nun auch Schilder in pikardischem Wallonien, der westlichsten Region von Hennegau rund um Doornik, Ath und Enghien aufgestellt worden.
