Die Festung Vêves stammt im Wesentlichen aus dem 13. Jahrhundert.
Sie hat die Form eines Fünfecks, unterbrochen von fünf Rundtürmen.
Die Umfassungsmauer folgt dem darunter liegenden Fels.
Der höchste Turm (38 m), genannt „Wachturm“ oder etwas abwertend „Bergfried“, steht neben dem einzigen Zugang zum Innenhof, der noch Reste der Torangeln und der verfüllten Führungen des Fallgitters zeigt.
Im Innenhof verbindet eine seltene offene Fachwerkgalerie mit Holzfüllungen in Form eines Andreaskreuzes den ursprünglichen mittelalterlichen Wohntrakt mit dem Flügel aus dem 16. Jahrhundert.
Der Südostflügel wurde im 18. Jahrhundert nach dem Geschmack der damaligen Zeit eingerichtet.
