Het fort van Vêves, met zijn vijfhoekige vorm die benadrukt wordt door vijf ronde torens, dateert hoofdzakelijk uit de 13de eeuw.
De ommuring volgt de direct lager gelegen rotsfundering.
De hoogste toren, de zogenaamde ‘wachttoren’ die men verkeerdelijk ‘slottoren’ noemt (38 meter), flankeert de enige toegang tot de binnenplaats, die nog steeds de sporen draagt van de hengels van de toegangspoort en de opgevulde groef van het valhek.
Op de binnenplaats wordt de oorspronkelijke middeleeuwse woning met de vleugel uit de 16de eeuw verbonden via een zeldzame open vakwerkgalerij met houten latten in een andreaskruis.
De zuidoostelijke vleugel werd in de 18de eeuw dan weer volgens de toenmalige mode ingericht.
