Oudegem ist ein Dorf in der belgischen Provinz Ostflandern und seit 1977 ein Teilgemeinde von Dendermonde. Als die selbständige Gemeinde Oudegem 1977 aufgelöst wurde, hatte sie 3950 Einwohner; seit Anfang 2019 gibt es 4221 Einwohner. Das Dorf liegt in der Denderregion, zwischen der Dender und der Schelde. Die ältesten Erwähnungen lauten Aldengem, Aldengienh, Audengien und Oudegheem, entstanden aus aldinga haim. Bedeutung: Haus der Nachkommen von Aldo. Aldo ist ein sächsischer/fränkischer Vorname. Das Toponym ingaheim hat germanische, genauer gesagt fränkische, Ursprünge. Die Schreibweise Haagem stammt von dem Autor Jef Scheirs in seinem Roman Der Philosoph von Haagem.
